DEFINE ACCOUNT GROUP
Define account group
General ledger accounts are arranged in accounts groups in order to manage and control. To create a general ledger account - account group is mandatory. Each general ledger account is assigned to only one account group.
The account group or general ledger account group is denoted by a maximum of 4 characters. It can be numeric /alphabet/alpha - numeric.
The same account group can be used by more than one company code if they use the same chart of account.
The account group determines the screen layout that is to be used while creating the master in the company code area. Creation of the general ledger codes depends upon the specified number range that is assigned to the account group.
While defining an account group, we need to specify the field status for each account group. The field can be a required entry field or suppress or optional.
It specifies the groups for which it represents accounts like liabilities, assets etc.
In Real time business scenario, we suggest
- All Liabilities accounts to start with 1 series (1*)
- All Asset accounts to start with 2 series (2*)
- All income accounts to start with 3 series (3*)
- All Expenditure accounts to start with 4 series (4*)
It is easy to use whenever the user needs to post an account of rent which is an expenditure account - At the time of posting only to enter 4*. It appears the expenditure accounts will appear only.
